Dogs of 2025
Some stories of dogs adopted with the help of the Tails community in 2025
WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN FOR 100 TAILS!
Thanks to the kindness, time, and commitment of our community, over 180 dogs were rescued and many of them found homes in 2025. Each number represents a life changed, and a family made whole.
None of this would have been possible without the help of hundreds of volunteers. People from different countries and cities united to help the animals on their journey home.

Together, we:
  • Organized and funded temporary shelters
  • Provided vaccination and medical treatment
  • Supported rescue efforts across 4 countries
  • Helped dogs travel safely to their new homes, often across borders and oceans

Behind every rescue is a story of patience, trust, and joy.
Here are just a few of the families who adopted dogs with us this year-stories!
GEORGI
  • We met Georgi through 100 Tails and the minute I saw the post for him, it was one of those moments where you just know. He was gentle and very curious about everything around him. He was confident, curious, and immediately comfortable around people. From the start, he had a great temperament and a lot of personality, and it was clear he would fit straight into our home

  • Since coming home, Georgi has settled in beautifully. He is calm and cozy indoors and loves curling up for naps or following us from room to room. Outside is a different story in the best way. Birds and squirrels are his absolute weakness and he definitely lives up to his spaniel nature. He is full of personality and makes us laugh every day with his enthusiasm and little quirks.

Georgi has brought so much joy into our lives. Watching his confidence grow and seeing him enjoy a safe, happy routine has been incredibly rewarding. We are so grateful to 100 Tails for bringing him into our lives and for the care and love that made his new beginning possible.

CURRIE
  • We instantly fell in love with Currie when she popped up on our screen. She had such a sweet face and was just a beautiful dog. When she came home, she curled up on our bed as she’d always been there.

Currie is a true hunting dog, completely obsessed with birds, which keeps life exciting (and sometimes challenging).
It’s been so fun watching her personality come out. She is such a character. When she’s happy or excited, she curls her whole body so much that we debated renaming her “Curlie.” At this point, everyone in our building just knows her as the wiggly dog.

  • Currie loves her people deeply, and we love sharing new experiences with her, especially camping and getting her out into the world. We’re so grateful to the 100 Tails community for bringing Currie into our lives and for all the support along the way!

ATI
  • Facebook is full of so many great pages for pet lovers, and at some point, we noticed Sonya’s stories. We never wanted a dog… No, thanks, no to waking up yearly in the morning!
But at some point, something clicked, and we decided to ask Sonya if there was a dog available for adoption. Sonya’s reply was quick, and when we saw Ati in a picture, our first thought was - this is it, this is our dog!

  • The adoption process was very simple, and then Ati's long journey home started -Georgia, Russia, Morocco, then a week in Toronto. So many people with big hearts were involved in transferring Ati from Georgia to Canada! And then Ati finally arrived in Vancouver.

From the first day in our family, it has been a great joy to have Ati in our lives. He has an amazing personality. And still, from time to time, Ati has some surprises for us. Has your dog ever tried talk to you? Our Ati recently started talking about how he is missing us when we come back home.

WAYNE
  • On January 29, 2024, my sweet 15-year-old Brittany Spaniel Bella crossed the rainbow bridge. My heart was in pieces, and I thought I could never get another dog.

After a year or so, I thought, well, I’ll just look at some dogs for adoption.
The moment I saw Wayne’s picture via 100 Tails Rescue, I was smitten.
Sonya has been so supportive and helpful with any questions I have about Wayne and his history.
I swear he jumped into my heart!

  • Although I wasn’t keen on a young male, another Brittany or a puppy at the time, Wayne is so precious to me that I can’t imagine not having him with me.
His extreme prey drive and taking advantage of an open gate have kept the whole community on alert. Even chasing a cat into a house with lots of cats won’t slow him down.
He has a happy home here and is very loved!

YOZIK
  • After our old dog passed away in May, I was looking for a medium-sized, short-haired Pitty mix. Then I saw a photo on Facebook of something very different: a small, hairy creature that looked like a cross between a raccoon and a chicken. Somehow, my fingers typed "I’m interested" before I could stop them, and two weeks later, I was bringing home the exact opposite of what I had planned. Yozik aka JoJo.

  • Fast forward six months, and this funny little guy is my super-cuddly buddy who isn't afraid to put the neighbourhood's biggest dogs in their place.
It turns out that while he is small, he takes up a big space in our hearts. We couldn't be happier with our "accidental" perfect match. He’s proof that sometimes the dog you need is nothing like the dog you were looking for!

SALLY
  • We stumbled on a post about Sally in a Facebook group. She had the sweetest eyes and curly tail — we had to go and meet her. From the moment she came running out towards us, so trusting, friendly and sweet, we knew she was our dog. After a quick supply stop on the way (we were not ready at all!), we brought Sally to her forever home.

  • It’s hard to put into words how much she has changed our lives over these short 3 months. Of course having a dog is a big responsibility — making sure she’s walked and well-fed, happy and fulfilled. We’ve spent more time than we’d like to admit watching YouTube videos and reading articles about dogs! There are lots of opinions, but it’s true what they say, that every dog is different, and the more we get to know Sally the more clear we are on what the right choices are for her.

Beyond the responsibility of doing the best we can for Sally, she has brought so much joy to our days. She’s our little shadow, wanting to be wherever we are, cuddling on the couch or standing patiently at our feet in the kitchen hoping we’ll drop some food. She’s silly and goofy, but also smart, brave, and willing to learn. We feel so lucky to have Sally, and already can’t imagine our lives without her.

MYSTIC
  • Mystic randomly appeared on our Facebook feed as an adoptable dog and looked exactly like what we had been hoping to find in our next furry family member.
From the moment we picked him up,, we knew he was perfect for us as he immediately flopped on our laps.
His adoption write-up spoke of him having more personality than a living room can hold and it couldn't have been more accurate - he has two modes, cuddly couch potato indoors and wild maniac outdoors.

  • Our lifestyle involves frequent camping and road trips, so we were overjoyed to find that he's a perfect traveller and loves exploring the outdoors.
His zoomies come on in an instant when he's outside, and his idea of fun is running circles around us at full tilt.

It's hard to believe how well he's adjusted in the 5 months since we adopted him... He loves everyone he meets, and every food he meets is his favourite.
We don't think we could have found a more perfect match for our family if we had designed him ourselves.

LUKA
  • We had been waiting for the right dog for over a year and when we saw Luka’s picture we knew he was the dog for us. As soon as we met him we fell in love.
Meeting him at the beach and seeing him run free and happy over the sand and the big smile on his face we knew he was our dream dog. He was exactly as described by 100 tails - an endless optimist. He trusted us immediately and easily gained confidence in his new home.

  • His personality started to shine - chasing balls, big snuggles and silly playing around the yard. He thrives during off-leash walks, where his true setter nature can shine as he checks every bush for birds. After the walks, he is an expert at snuggling up to us on the couch.

Luka has brought us more love and happiness than we ever expected, and we cannot imagine not having him in our lives, making every day so much better. We are so grateful to 100 Tails for bringing him into our lives!

KATYA
  • We were looking for a calmer, less reactive dog than our terrier that passed away. We saw Katya on the 100 Tails webpage and fell in love with her looks and the write-up on her easy-going nature turned out to be spot on.
Sonya truly wanted each dog to perfectly match their new family. We have had Katya for almost 7 months, and while slow to fully trust that this is her forever home, each day surprises us with her new confidence. She seemed to be afraid of getting in trouble, afraid of doorways. We've started doing a flavour trail of crunchies to encourage her to go into the kitchen and bathroom.
Katya's happy place is adventure hikes to beaches and trails, smelling constantl, doing agility on logs and benches and bikestands.

  • At the beginning, she often went downstairs to her futon bed for privacy. Now, Katya is happiest when she is upstairs with us. My trainer says that her energy with other dogs is all serenity and calm. We don't put pressure on her, and she has so much confidence in all areas! We thought Christmas might be a challenge, but she thrived, even opening her own gifts.
She has brought so much joy to us and now gives us that look of love.
Thank you 100 Tails for matching us up!

RUBY
  • Ruby came to us a little over 6 months ago. My husband did not know this, but I had been looking for a dog for quite some time. A little girl, around 5 years old, and I had always wanted a dog named Ruby.
    Well.... there she was.

  • She came over from Georgia with her little sister and both of them are here on the Island. Ruby was very skinny when she arrived, timid and anxious, and also in pain due to her bad teeth. She is now the perfect weight, no longer timid, still anxious, and minus 16 teeth, which does not stop her from enjoying her food.
The most loving little creature you could imagine. We are in love.

    Isabelle and Johnny.
LILLY
  • I was besotted by her photos on Facebook and Sonya’s beautiful description of this lovely, elegant girl! She was very quick to warm up to me when we met at Sonya’s and travelled without complaint back to Victoria with me.

Lilly fit in almost seamlessly with our family, and our black lab Charley very quickly welcomed her into the pack and showed her the ropes.
Her quiet, affectionate demeanour is reserved for inside only: outside, she is a lioness, totally intent on hunting for mice in the bushes!
We are excited to introduce her to snow as we are heading up to the mountains to go skiing over Christmas!

    Katherine

LAYLA
  • We met Layla through 100 Tails, and from the moment we saw her, we knew she was meant to be ours. With her soft eyes, cute stumpy wagging tail, and curious little spirit, she stole our hearts instantly. As an English cocker spaniel mix, Layla brings endless joy, affection, and just the right amount of mischief into our days!

  • Since coming home, Layla has settled in beautifully. She loves cozy naps, following us everywhere, and turning every walk into a full-on adventure, especially if birds or squirrels are involved. Watching her confidence grow and seeing her truly relax into a safe, happy life has been incredibly special.
Layla has really grown on us and we love her playful personality. She’s been a great addition to our life and she’s definitely taught us a lot about ourselves
We are so grateful to 100 Tails for bringing Layla into our lives and for all the care and love that made her new beginning possible.

NOLA
  • My dog needed a friend. I work in forestry and had requirements that I was looking for in another dog to join us at work.  For 2 years I searched and couldn’t find any that were the right fit. Then I found 100 Tails. We filtered through various, dogs and then Nola came up. I was assured by the team that she checked off all the boxes.
I trusted them and went for it.

  • Nola was indeed happy and healthy when she arrived. Her personality is very calm, trusting and eager to please. She got along great with our dog and 3 cats. First day of work, she was nervous, scared and at my heels. Now she’s the first one ready for work in the morning. She enjoys running really fast through the forest, darting through small openings and jumping off anything she can. She sure loves to jump! Her personality now is quirky, playful and ready for adventure.
She’s a blast, we love Nola!

LILY
  • I first met Lily through 100 Tails, and from the very beginning there was something special about her. The moment I saw her, I felt an instant connection: her gentle eyes and calm presence really stood out. When she came home, it didn’t take long for her to act like she truly belonged, as if she had been waiting for this chapter all along.

Lily has the sweetest personality, with a perfect mix of curiosity and calm. She is incredibly kind with both humans and other dogs, and she seems to make friends wherever she goes. One of her best qualities is her adaptability; she truly is the perfect adventure partner. Whether it’s camping, exploring new places, or being out in nature, Lily is always happy to be part of the experience.
  • Lily even learned how to paddleboard right away, surprising everyone with how confident and relaxed she was on the board. Watching her enjoy new adventures has been so rewarding and fun!

Seeing Lily settle into her new life and grow more confident every day has brought so much joy into my home. I’m incredibly grateful to the 100 Tails community for bringing Lily into my life and for all the support throughout the adoption journey.

DAISY
  • When we lost our family dog in January, we were devastated. The house was way too quiet all of a sudden. By the end of summer we were ready for the new family member and started looking. I am a huge fan of terriers and thought we will adopt a small terrier-looking pup, but when I saw a photo of Daisy (then Casey), my heart just stopped. Never in a million years I would guess it would be a cocker spaniel.

  • We had a family trip planned, so the plans had to change a bit as she arrived the day before it, but it was all worth it. She is absolutely perfect, and made herself at home right away.
She's the loveliest (and a very spoilt) little girl. Super sweet at home, and a ruthless hunter outside. Squirrels and bunnies have no chance!

ELTON
  • Our two dogs had both passed suddenly within 1 year of each other and we were completely heart broken. Then after about 2 years, we decided that our family was ready for another fur baby. We had decided on a beagle and started searching, then my husband found this sweet, adorable goofy picture of a dog named Elton. Well that was it for us, and we contacted them and said we were very interested and if we could come meet him, we did and it was love at first sight.

  • Elton is the world's largest cuddle bug and will just curl up next to you or on top of you after a nice, long walk.
One of our favorite things about Elton is that he does the tippy taps with his paws when he waits for treats and food. He loves to be with us and will follow us from room to room. He is just the perfect piece that our family was missing!

PIPOCA
  • Our journey with Pipoca began when we contacted 100 Tails after seeing a dog we hoped to adopt. By the time we reached out, she had already found a home. Before we even had a chance to feel disappointed, Sonya redirected us and showed us a little dog named Belle. One photo was enough — there was something tender and expressive in her eyes that made us feel she was meant for us.
We arranged everything so we could meet her directly at the airport when she arrived. When the day finally came, we waited anxiously, already in love. The moment she landed in our arms, Belle became Pipoca, and our family felt complete.

When she arrived, it was clear she carried fears and old traumas. Her transformation took time, patience, structure, and a lot of love. Every small victory - a relaxed nap, a brave step, a genuine tail wag - showed us she was slowly blossoming into herself.

  • At home, Pipoca is calm, polite, and deeply affectionate. She moves softly, pays attention to every sound, and stays connected to everything happening around her. She’s sensitive, observant, and sometimes cautious — a gentle soul who expresses love in quiet, meaningful ways.
But outside, she becomes a completely different dog.: confident, curious, and full of life, she walks with purpose, sniffs around, and greets every dog in the park. Exploring is her passion, and she invents new “trails” every day, leading the adventure with her tail up and her spirit shining.
Pipoca is a dog with depth and heart — gentle at home, fearless outside, endlessly curious, and always herself. She reminds us daily that rescue dogs are not defined by their past. With love and patience, they discover who they truly are. Thanks to 100 Tails, perfect timing, Pipoca found a home where every part of her could finally shine.

PEGGY
  • Aira (now Peggy) is absolutely perfect. We could not have asked for a better second dog to join the family. Valerie and her get along, Mike is head over heels in love with her (and so is our niece). She’s perfect and we are so happy we found her!

RUBY
  • I got Ruby on a total impulse. I called Sonya from 100 Tails on my lunch break at noon, and by 5 p.m. that same day I was picking my dog up.
Ruby is a bit shy at first, but once she warms up, her personality really shines. She’s incredibly cuddly and has a habit of gazing straight into your eyes like she’s trying to read your thoughts. She also has a classic love-hate relationship with the mailman. Dislikes the “commotion” he brings to the building, but adores the flyers he delivers through our door slot for her to shred.

We feel lucky to have Ruby—she’s the kind of dog who arrived already preloaded with the best personality settings. My impulsive decision turned out to be exactly how it was meant to be!

    Laticia

ARLO
  • We first spotted Arlo on the 100 Tails website, and his gentle, slightly puzzled expression immediately drew us in. When we met him, he walked over with such easy confidence that we knew he was meant to join our home. Since then, he’s made himself comfortable in every sunny corner of the house.

  • One of our favourite quirks is his morning “chatter,” when he grumbles for attention, and his habit of proudly parading around with stolen socks always makes us laugh. On walks, he greets everyone like an old friend, quickly becoming a neighbourhood favourite.

Life with Arlo is full of long strolls, cozy evenings, and constant joy, and we’re grateful to 100 Tails for helping us find the perfect match.

JARA
  • Jara from the start was a light. The process of being paired up with an angel, from picking her up from the airport to now being a part of my pack.

My fur babies readily accepted Jara: her 5-year-old big sister Maple, also a rescue plays with her like a gentle giant, while her older 13-year-old sister Nyma will happily snuggle in a happy puddle together. She goes to daycare with her sisters and does phenomenally on her pack walks, with either daycare friends or her siblings.
As an experienced pack handler, trainer and hiker I couldn't have asked for a better pup. The whole process has been so rewarding and a gift I hope anyone can experience in their lifetime. I trusted 100 Tails with their pair-upsI and gentle hands, and i would do it again in a heartbeat.

GOOSE
  • We were the lucky adopters of Goose in June. We hadn’t been looking for a dog for long when Goose came into our lives. I had seen a post on Facebook about a dog coming to Canada that was a snuggler, and this is what we were looking for! That particular dog went to a different home, but since Sonya knew what we were looking for, when Goose was coming to Canada, she reached out to me to arrange a meeting.
We met Goose two days later, and I was astonished that we could take Goose home with us right away. Since this is our first dog, we knew nothing and had no supplies! We were quickly handed what we would need for our first overnight, and Sonya helped Goose into our vehicle, and we were off!

  • We are enchanted with our lovely mutt. She barks surprisingly little, about once a month, and makes up for it with endless fur all over the house. She’s not a wet dog - no drooling or tongue kisses, and she makes up for that by being very wary of doorways. Introducing her to new places takes some time if it involves a doorway. I’ve been loving getting outside multiple times a day, doing less walking and more watching of everything. There is a lot of shepherd in this dog, so she loves to sit or lie down and survey her territory. I look forward to more years with Goose, whom I sometimes refer to as Piroshki, too.
We are thankful to all the lovely sweethearts along the trails of 100 Tails to bring these sweet dogs to their forever homes!

MAGGIE
  • Maggie has been a joy since the day we met her! She had every reason to be timid and afraid after a long flight into Vancouver, but she was at home right away. It just felt like this was where she was meant to be.

It’s hard to sit down in our house without her trying to jump in your lap. She even tries to swat things like phones and remote controls away from you, so she gets more attention!

  • It’s hilarious because anytime anyone walks by the door, she assumes she’s going for another walk (even if her last one was five minutes ago).
She has lots of fun playing with our existing dog, Ninja, and lots of our friends' dogs as well.
She is sooooo happy. And so are we!

TYLER
  • My kids recently told me, “Mom, bringing Tyler home with us was the best decision you’ve made since having us.” And I completely agree. I’m almost ashamed to admit that adopting Tyler, our beautiful pointer, was a purely emotional decision, a heartfelt impulse. But I’m so glad I listened to my heart.

I don’t even know who adopted whom - whether we adopted Tyler or he adopted our entire family. Since he arrived, there have been so many more hugs, shared walks, cozy get-togethers, and evenings lounging on the couch, just talking. Tyler is gentle, joyful, and friendly. He is calm and peaceful at home, yet a passionate, high-energy explorer on walks.

  • I didn’t choose him based on any specific criteria. I simply chose the dog who was waiting for a family. That dog turned out to be Tyler, and somehow he fit seamlessly into our family, our rhythm, and our way of life. It feels as though he was waiting for us just as much as we were waiting for him.
Every time he comes down the stairs for a walk, wagging his tail so enthusiastically it seems as if his whole body is wagging, I’m filled with an overwhelming sense of love - for him, for our family, and for the life we share.
Truly, adopting Tyler is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, one that has brought our family so much more happiness and love.

GEETA
  • Geeta is a very timid girl, who arrived out of the plane severely traumatized. She spent the first three days with us in her dog bed, only coming out for walks. Once she got walking, she was a different dog: leash loose most of the time, friendly with dogs of all different sizes and temperaments, but wary of all humans. Over the past five months she has slowly come out of her shell, although she stilll startles at loud noises and sudden movements.

  • Geeta is at her best on walks and in our home with just the three of us. My wife is an invalid, and Geeta spends a lot of time with her, giving love and support. We have had to do some creative management, because she is afraid of the care aides who come to help out, but she quickly settles down once they are established in her “pack”.
To sum her up, Geeta is a sweet and loving dog who responds beautifully to gentle treatment. She is trainable and gentle, and we love her to bits.

KLYUKVA aka CRANBERRY
  • Immigrant life is full of surprises and challenges, but after nearly five years in Canada, we finally felt that our life was stable enough to welcome a dog. Our last dog passed away more than 8 years ago.I

I originally planned to adopt a dog once everything was perfectly prepared. Then, a friend sent me a Facebook post from 100Tails featuring Klyukva’s photo with the message, “Look who is coming to you!” From the very first glance, I felt it instantly: this is my dog, and somehow managed to convince my husband that we should adopt her right away.

  • Our 25th wedding anniversary was coming up in September, and instead of throwing a party or planning a fancy celebration, we spent that weekend driving to Montreal. There, the amazing 100Tails team had heroically delivered Klyukva from Georgia. We met a wonderful foster family, and at Lena’s home, Klyukva was beginning to adapt to her new Canadian life.

We drove 900 km in one day, and both my husband and I realized that adventures are still very much a part of our lives.

  • Klyukva became an active and deeply involved member of our family. She is enthusiastic about all kinds of activities—hiking, swimming, camping, and more. She is friendly with other dogs and with children.
She’s also a bit of an explorer and loves chasing squirrels and bunnies. We work on bonding and training every day, and we're confident that with time, we’ll have it all under control. We are incredibly happy to have Klyukva—she has enriched our lives and brought us so much joy!

RAYA
  • Our family adopted beautiful Raya in October. The experience was very smooth: Sonya listened to what we were hoping for in a family dog, and with three children four and under, she lined us up with the calmest, most patient spaniel cross we have ever met. The rescue team was very quick to reply and helpful in every way imaginable, both during the adoption and afterwards for support.

  • Raya loves to go for long walks, and we go on two one-hour walks each day. She loves to sit on the front stoop and watch the world go by. A delivery person once left our gate open, leaving it unlocked and physically open while Raya was outside, and she didn’t leave! We were so amazed that her go-to was to just remain on the stairs, standing guard and not run off to chase something. What an incredible girl!

She’s also a total snuggle bug and is simply phenomenal with the kids, putting up with their noise and energy with nothing short of incredible grace.
We are over the moon in love with Raya and would highly recommend 100 Tails to anyone hoping to find a loving companion for their family.

MARTA
  • After a long search with many different rescues, looking for a dog for my retirement and being turned down by all of them, I came across 100 Tails, and saw a dog that I liked. I applied for that dog, but it turned out it didn't work out with that dog. Sonya kept in touch with me: she showed me many different dogs, and then Marta came up - with her aristocratic look, how she was good with kids, cats and other dogs.
She was just a perfect fit!

When it came time to go to pick Marta up, I was so excited! Sonya took me to the airport, where Olga had escorted Marta. She came to me right away. When we got home, I put her in the house. I went back to the truck to bring more stuff in, and Marta started crying, as she does to this day. With such a long flight, she would bark in the early morning, around 3 AM, to wake me up to go outside. She has never made a mistake in the house.
  • Marta and I were very close from the start. When I come into the room, Marta's always wagging her tail and rolling over. She wants belly rubs and moans as I give her belly rubs. When I take her out for walks, getting ready at the door, her bottom lip quivers and her teeth chatter really loudly. She loves to ride in the truck. At the off-leash dog park, she walks off and plays with other dogs, always looking back to see where I'm at and doesn't venture far from me.
Then I got a second dog, Roxy, who was rescued from a wildfire in Korea. It's amazing how well they get along! People who know me say I hit the jackpot with how well they play together.
Mike, who looks after the animals at the rescue back home, Sonya, with the work she does here and everyone in the group - they're an amazing rescue!

TERRA
  • We found Terra through the BC Adoptable Pets group and were immediately drawn to her expressive hound face and serious little stare, which turned out to be wildly misleading. After submitting an application to 100 Tails, Sonya got back to us quickly, even though there was already interest in Terra, and guided us through a thoughtful and thorough vetting process that made it clear how much the rescue cares about placing dogs in safe, loving homes. Because Dalton and I both work full time, we had to wait until we were both off work to make the long drive from Kamloops to Coquitlam, and Sonya and Iryna were incredibly accommodating, pulling a few strings to make our first meeting possible despite their own commitments that day.
  • It was love at first sight for Dalton, and on the drive home Terra decided I was also worth keeping, spending much of the trip curled up contentedly in my lap. She settled into home life quickly and wasted no time revealing her true talents. Terra is extremely food-motivated, surprisingly agile for her size, and not above climbing furniture if she thinks it might lead to snacks. In her early days with us, she committed several memorable crimes involving kibble, coats, shoes, and an unattended drink, all with impressive confidence. She also has a strong preference for stealing blankets, clothes, and pillows and turning them into carefully constructed nests on the couch.

  • Despite her mischievous streak, Terra is affectionate, sensitive, and deeply attached to her people. She loves running in the woods, exploring the beach, and then sleeping for hours afterward, ideally as close to us as possible. Throughout Terra’s first week at home, Sonya and the 100 Tails team checked in regularly to make sure she was settling well and to offer support and advice. The 100 Tails WhatsApp group has also made it easy to stay connected with the rescue community and arrange opportunities for the dogs to meet and play. We’re incredibly grateful to 100 Tails for bringing this clever little criminal into our lives and giving her the chance at a safe, loved, and very supervised future.

THEO
  • Misha is the 2 ½ year old golden retriever in the family. Being very social and active I found her napping more and missing her time with her canine friends. So the search for a forever sibling began.
No one seemed to be fitting all the checks in the boxes until one morning, a photo appeared. It was of a dog named Dar. Instantly, I knew this was the family member we were missing, but I didn’t realize it yet. The stars aligned, and he was arriving in just 3 days. Time to get his forever home ready.

  • Dar, aka Theodar, aka Theo, has filled the opening in our family with joy, curiosity, play and a great deal of snuggles. We are working on finding a food that will help him gain some much-needed weight, but he has fashions to keep him warm for now. Days off include car rides, hikes in any weather, meeting new people, and new canine friends. On work days, he and Misha come and supervise what’s going on with the team, ensuring everyone gets checked in on.

Misha and Theo have bonded very well and really enjoy each other’s company.
I found my boy that I didn’t know I was missing.

    Welcome home, Theo!

PEPPER
  • We found Pepper on Facebook being up for adoption and naturally thought, “Why not add a little chaos to our lives?” So we took him home.
At first, Pepper was shy and treated the house like a crime scene, carefully sniffing every corner. But after about a week, he decided we were acceptable humans, settled in, and revealed his true personality: calm, goofy, and endlessly lovable.

We adore him because he’s incredibly friendly and has a great sense of humour, especially when food is involved. Like any dog who knows exactly how big he is, Pepper quickly learned that tables are technically within reach. Stealing food became less of a bad habit and more of a sport.
Pepper is a fantastic dog: he loves long walks, lives for playtime, and greets every family member and stranger as if they’re his long-lost best friend. He listens (most of the time), gives plenty of affection, and has completely stolen our hearts—along with the occasional snack.

BARRY
  • We found Barry through Sonya, and fittingly, it was on my birthday — truly the perfect gift. From the moment we met him, it was hard to leave; saying goodbye that first time was bittersweet because we already felt how special he was. When the day finally came to bring him home, he had absolutely no hesitation jumping right into the car, like he knew exactly where he belonged. From that moment on, he made himself completely at home.

  • Barry is the happiest little guy, always wanting to be part of everything we do, and we honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. We have two cats, and while they’re still a bit hesitant around him, Barry is so ready to be their friend. He’ll sit patiently and watch them, tail barely moving at first, until the excitement builds and his little wag gets faster and faster — and then suddenly he can’t help himself and trots after them, full of hope. Even when he’s eating, he refuses to miss out, wandering around with his tail wagging and dropping kibble everywhere just to stay involved. And if you pet him for more than a second, his whole bum starts wiggling with excitement. He brings so much joy into our lives, and we absolutely love him!

SOFIA
  • I can’t imagine my life without dear Sonia! (We call her Sofia). But honestly, I never imagined myself owning a dog at all. Much less a dog I had not met before adopting. From across the world! But as soon as I saw her picture, I knew she was my dog. She is the light of our life.

Everyone who meets Sofia says she is the sweetest, calmest dog they have ever met. And she isn’t even a year old yet. We are so happy to have been able to give Sofia a safe and loving home.
And she loves her older sister Jessy, who is also a 100 Tails rescue!

IVAN
  • Ivan joined our family in early November and wasted no time making himself right at home. He’s taken on some very important responsibilities: keeping the yard safe from squirrel invasions, motivating us to stay active, and offering snuggles whenever they’re needed.

His favorite hobbies? Sampling treats, greeting guests, and keeping an eye on the chickens. And when the zoomies hit… well, let’s just say all bets are off!

  • Ivan loves hanging out by the front door (or perched on a chair nearby) to watch the world go by. Birds, squirrels, and bunnies provide endless entertainment. Once the sun goes down, he switches gears and plays with his stuffed buddies—lots of carrying, tossing, and “attacks” before settling into his cozy spot on the couch for the night.

He’s made a fantastic first impression on his big sisters—both rescues as well, a 7-year-old golden retriever and 13-year-old Indian street dog. The three of them are all about walks and treats, and Ivan has fit right in. We couldn’t be happier to have him as part of the family!

JOY
  • My wife and I had grown up with dogs, but never really had the time or opportunity to get one of our own. Everything changed when our daughter asked us for a dog so she could have someone to play with.
What followed was months of searching for the perfect match. We actually got in touch with 100 Tails in October but none of the dogs available at the time were the right match for us.

  • Our daughter is autistic, and we have very specific needs, so we knew we would need to be very picky with our choice. 100 Tails team seemed to understand this perfectly and worked very hard with us to find the perfect match for us.

In November, we were introduced to Joy, a young Jack Russel mix with a ton of love in his heart. Joy is energetic when we take him outside, and calm when he's at home. He is an absolute cuddle machine, and we haven't gone a single night without him inviting himself into our bed.
Joy has lived up to his name and brought joy into our lives, and we couldn't be happier with our match.

PEPPI, PEPITA aka BAMBI
  • This year has been an emotional rollercoaster for our family. We were heartbroken when we lost our dog, Canela, to Addison’s disease. Our home felt painfully empty. Then, nearly 6 months later, joy found its way back to us thanks to Peppi, our beautiful pointer mix.

My husband Steve discovered 100 Tails while I was at work and sent me a photo of Peppi. Her long legs and curious expression immediately stood out. We soon met Peppi at Pacific Spirit Regional Park, along with two other 100 Tails families and their dogs, Argo and Ruby.
From the moment the walk began, Peppi was pure happiness. She ran and leapt through the forest like a little deer, friendly with everyone and clearly thrilled to be free. Knowing she had grown up in a shelter in Georgia made it even more moving to watch her embrace the moment. Her joyful energy, gentle nature, and adventurous spirit were exactly what we had been hoping for.
  • When we arrived to pick her up the next day, Peppi greeted us by proudly bringing over her skunk toy and resting her head on Steve’s arm. After a few cuddles, she calmly settled down to nap nearby. That was our sign.

Adopting again was scary after such a painful loss, but Peppi has filled our home with love in a way that feels almost intentional, as if she knows we needed her. She listens well, has a bright, eager mind, and keeps us smiling with her enthusiasm. Training is a work in progress for all of us.

We already love her deeply, and it is clear she feels the same. Sonya has been wonderful, and meeting other 100 Tails families made us feel supported from day one. The sense of community, including group walks and shared connections across Greater Vancouver, has been incredibly meaningful.
Adopting through 100 Tails has truly been a positive, heart-healing experience.

NIKA
  • Nika is a total goofball at home and at the dog park—playful, confident, and clearly convinced she runs the place. Home is her kingdom now, and she’s the happy queen of the house.

When she first arrived from Georgia, everything felt overwhelming. She spent a lot of time hiding under the sofa, quietly watching the world from a safe distance. Little by little, she began taking brave, tiny steps, learning to trust her new home, her people, and the routine around her.

Outside, Nika’s still figuring things out. She can be unsure around people and sometimes pulls hard on the leash, which makes walks a bit challenging. But with patience, love, and time, she’s making progress every day. This February will mark one year since she came home, and seeing how far she’s come already is truly heartwarming.
