Dogs of 2025
Some stories of dogs adopted with the help of the Tails community in 2025
WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN FOR 100 TAILS!
Thanks to the kindness, time, and commitment of our community, over 180 dogs were rescued and found homes this year. Each number represents a life changed, and a family made whole.

Together, we:
  • Organized and funded temporary shelters
  • Provided vaccination and medical treatment
  • Supported rescue efforts across 4 countries
  • Helped dogs travel safely to their new homes, often across borders and oceans

Behind every rescue is a story of patience, trust, and joy.
Here are just a few of the families who adopted dogs with us this year-stories!
WAYNE
  • On January 29, 2024, my sweet 15-year-old Brittany Spaniel Bella crossed the rainbow bridge. My heart was in pieces, and I thought I could never get another dog.

After a year or so, I thought, well, I’ll just look at some dogs for adoption.
The moment I saw Wayne’s picture via 100 Tails Rescue, I was smitten.
Sonya has been so supportive and helpful with any questions I have about Wayne and his history.
I swear he jumped into my heart !!

  • Although I wasn’t keen on a young male, another Brittany or a puppy at the time, Wayne is so precious to me that I can’t imagine not having him with me.
His extreme prey drive and taking advantage of an open gate have kept the whole community on alert. Even chasing a cat into a house with lots of cats won’t slow him down.
He has a happy home here and is very loved!

GEORGIE
  • We met Georgi through 100 Tails and the minute I saw the post for him, it was one of those moments where you just know. He was gentle and very curious about everything around him. He was confident, curious, and immediately comfortable around people. From the start, he had a great temperament and a lot of personality, and it was clear he would fit straight into our home

  • Since coming home, Georgi has settled in beautifully. He is calm and cozy indoors and loves curling up for naps or following us from room to room. Outside is a different story in the best way. Birds and squirrels are his absolute weakness and he definitely lives up to his spaniel nature. He is full of personality and makes us laugh every day with his enthusiasm and little quirks.

Georgi has brought so much joy into our lives. Watching his confidence grow and seeing him enjoy a safe, happy routine has been incredibly rewarding. We are so grateful to 100 Tails for bringing him into our lives and for the care and love that made his new beginning possible.

PIPOCA
  • Our journey with Pipoca began when we contacted 100 Tails after seeing a dog we hoped to adopt. By the time we reached out, she had already found a home. Before we even had a chance to feel disappointed, Sonya redirected us and showed us a little dog named Belle. One photo was enough — there was something tender and expressive in her eyes that made us feel she was meant for us.
We arranged everything so we could meet her directly at the airport when she arrived. When the day finally came, we waited anxiously, already in love. The moment she landed in our arms, Belle became Pipoca, and our family felt complete.

When she arrived, it was clear she carried fears and old traumas. She didn’t know how to trust yet, and she didn’t know she was safe. Her transformation took time, patience, structure, and a lot of love. Every small victory — a relaxed nap, a brave step, a genuine tail wag — showed us she was slowly blossoming into herself.

  • At home, Pipoca is calm, polite, and deeply affectionate. She moves softly, pays attention to every sound, and stays connected to everything happening around her. She’s sensitive, observant, and sometimes cautious — a gentle soul who expresses love in quiet, meaningful ways.
But outside, she becomes a completely different dog. Confident, curious, and full of life, she walks with purpose, sniffs everything she sees, and wants to greet every dog in the park. Exploring is her passion, and she invents new “trails” every day, leading the adventure with her tail up and her spirit shining.

Pipoca is a dog with depth and heart — gentle at home, fearless outside, endlessly curious, and always herself. She reminds us daily that rescue dogs are not defined by their past. With love and patience, they discover who they truly are. Thanks to 100 Tails, perfect timing, Pipoca found a home where every part of her could finally shine.

YOZIK
  • After our old dog passed away in May, I was looking for a medium-sized, short-haired Pitty mix. Then I saw a photo on Facebook of something very different: a small, hairy creature that looked like a cross between a raccoon and a chicken. Somehow, my fingers typed "I’m interested" before I could stop them, and two weeks later, I was bringing home the exact opposite of what I had planned. Yozik aka JoJo.

  • Fast forward six months, and this funny little guy is my super-cuddly buddy who isn't afraid to put the neighbourhood's biggest dogs in their place.
It turns out that while he is small, he takes up a big space in our hearts. We couldn't be happier with our "accidental" perfect match. He’s proof that sometimes the dog you need is nothing like the dog you were looking for!

ARLO
  • We first spotted Arlo on the 100 Tails website, and his gentle, slightly puzzled expression immediately drew us in. When we met him, he walked over with such easy confidence that we knew he was meant to join our home. Since then, he’s made himself comfortable in every sunny corner of the house.

  • One of our favourite quirks is his morning “chatter,” when he grumbles for attention, and his habit of proudly parading around with stolen socks always makes us laugh. On walks, he greets everyone like an old friend, quickly becoming a neighbourhood favourite.

Life with Arlo is full of long strolls, cozy evenings, and constant joy, and we’re grateful to 100 Tails for helping us find the perfect match.

KLYUKVA aka CRANBERRY
  • Immigrant life is full of surprises and challenges, but after nearly five years in Canada, we finally felt that our life was stable enough to welcome a dog. We had dogs before, but our last one passed away more than 8 years ago.

I originally planned to adopt a dog once everything was perfectly prepared. Then, a friend sent me a Facebook post from 100Tails featuring Klyukva’s photo with the message, “Look who is coming to you!” From the very first glance, I felt it instantly: this is my dog, and somehow managed to convince my husband that we should adopt her right away.

  • Our 25th wedding anniversary was coming up in September, and instead of throwing a party or planning a fancy celebration, we spent that weekend driving to Montreal. There, the amazing 100Tails team had heroically delivered Klyukva from Georgia. We met a wonderful foster family, and at Lena’s home, Klyukva was beginning to adapt to her new Canadian life.

We drove 900 kilometers in one day, and both my husband and I realized that adventures are still very much a part of our lives.

    Tania

  • Klyukva became an active and deeply involved member of our family. She is enthusiastic about all kinds of activities—hiking, swimming, camping, and more. She is friendly with other dogs and with children.
She’s also a bit of an explorer and loves chasing squirrels and bunnies. We work on bonding and training every day, and we're confident that with time, we’ll have it all under control. We are incredibly happy to have Klyukva—she has enriched our lives and brought us so much joy!
PEGGY
  • Aira (now Peggy) is absolutely perfect. We could not have asked for a better second dog to join the family. Valerie and her get along, Mike is head over heels in love with her (and so is our niece). She’s perfect and we are so happy we found her!

PEPPER
  • We found Pepper on Facebook being up for adoption and naturally thought, “Why not add a little chaos to our lives?” So we took him home.
At first, Pepper was shy and treated the house like a crime scene, carefully sniffing every corner. But after about a week, he decided we were acceptable humans, settled in, and revealed his true personality: calm, goofy, and endlessly lovable.

We adore him because he’s incredibly friendly and has a great sense of humour, especially when food is involved. Like any dog who knows exactly how big he is, Pepper quickly learned that tables are technically within reach. Stealing food became less of a bad habit and more of a sport.
Pepper is a fantastic dog: he loves long walks, lives for playtime, and greets every family member and stranger as if they’re his long-lost best friend. He listens (most of the time), gives plenty of affection, and has completely stolen our hearts—along with the occasional snack.

MARTA
  • What does it mean to have Marta in my life? - After a long search with many different rescues, looking for a dog for my retirement and being turned down by all of them, I came across 100 Tails, and saw a dog that I liked. I applied for that dog, but it turned out it didn't work out with that dog. Sonya kept in touch with me: she showed me many different dogs, and then Marta came up - with her aristocratic look, how she was good with kids, cats and other dogs. She was just a perfect fit!

When it came time to go to pick Marta up, I was so excited! Sonya took me to the airport, where Olga had escorted Marta. She came to me right away. When we got home, I put her in the house. I went back to the truck to bring more stuff in, and Marta started crying, as she does to this day. With such a long flight, she would bark in the early morning, around 3 AM, to wake me up to go outside. She has never made a mistake in the house.

    Jim

  • Marta and I were very close from the start. When I come into the room, Marta's always wagging her tail and rolling over. She wants belly rubs and moans as I give her belly rubs. When I take her out for walks, getting ready at the door, her bottom lip quivers and her teeth chatter really loudly. She loves to ride in the truck. At the off-leash dog park, she walks off and plays with other dogs, always looking back to see where I'm at and doesn't venture far from me. Then I got a second dog, Roxy, who was rescued from a wildfire in Korea. It's amazing how well they get along! People who know me say I hit the jackpot with how well they get along and play together. Mike, who looks after the animals at the rescue back home, Sonya, with the work she does here and everyone in the group - they're an amazing rescue!

SALLY
  • We stumbled on a post about Sally in a Facebook group. She had the sweetest eyes and curly tail — we had to go and meet her. From the moment she came running out towards us, so trusting, friendly and sweet, we knew she was our dog. After a quick supply stop on the way (we were not ready at all!), we brought Sally to her forever home.

  • It’s hard to put into words how much she has changed our lives over these short 3 months. Of course having a dog is a big responsibility — making sure she’s walked and well-fed, happy and fulfilled. We’ve spent more time than we’d like to admit watching YouTube videos and reading articles about dogs! There are lots of opinions, but it’s true what they say, that every dog is different, and the more we get to know Sally the more clear we are on what the right choices are for her.

Beyond the responsibility of doing the best we can for Sally, she has brought so much joy to our days. She’s our little shadow, wanting to be wherever we are, cuddling on the couch or standing patiently at our feet in the kitchen hoping we’ll drop some food. She’s silly and goofy, but also smart, brave, and willing to learn. We feel so lucky to have Sally, and already can’t imagine our lives without her.

LUKA
  • We had been waiting for the right dog for over a year and when we saw Luka’s picture we knew he was the dog for us. As soon as we met him we fell in love.
Meeting him at the beach and seeing him run free and happy over the sand and the big smile on his face we knew he was our dream dog. He was exactly as described by 100 tails - an endless optimist. He trusted us immediately and easily gained confidence in his new home.

  • His personality started to shine - chasing balls, big snuggles and silly playing around the yard. He thrives during off-leash, walks, where his true setter nature can shine as he checks every bush for birds. After the walks, he is an expert at snuggling up to us on the couch. He has brought us more love and happiness than we ever expected, and we cannot imagine not having him in our lives, making everyday so much better. We are so grateful to 100 Tails for bringing him into our lives!

GOOSE
  • We were the lucky adopters of Goose in June. We hadn’t been looking for a dog for long when Goose came into our lives. I had seen a post on Facebook about a dog coming to Canada that was a snuggler, and this is what we were looking for! That particular dog went to a different home, but since Sonya knew what we were looking for, when Goose was coming to Canada, she reached out to me to arrange a meeting.
We met Goose two days later, and I was astonished that we could take Goose home with us right away. Since this is our first dog, we knew nothing and had no supplies! We were quickly handed what we would need for our first overnight, and Sonya helped Goose into our vehicle, and we were off!

  • We are enchanted with our lovely mutt. She barks surprisingly little, about once a month, and makes up for it with endless fur all over the house. She’s not a wet dog - no drooling or tongue kisses, and she makes up for that by being very wary of doorways. Introducing her to new places takes some time if it involves a doorway. I’ve been loving getting outside multiple times a day, doing less walking and more watching of everything. There is a lot of shepherd in this dog, so she loves to sit or lie down and survey her territory. I look forward to more years with Goose, whom I sometimes refer to as Piroshki, too.
We are thankful to all the lovely sweethearts along the trails of 100 Tails to bring these sweet dogs to their forever homes!

BARRY
  • We found Barry through Sonya, and fittingly, it was on my birthday — truly the perfect gift. From the moment we met him, it was hard to leave; saying goodbye that first time was bittersweet because we already felt how special he was. When the day finally came to bring him home, he had absolutely no hesitation jumping right into the car, like he knew exactly where he belonged. From that moment on, he made himself completely at home.

  • Barry is the happiest little guy, always wanting to be part of everything we do, and we honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. We have two cats, and while they’re still a bit hesitant around him, Barry is so ready to be their friend. He’ll sit patiently and watch them, tail barely moving at first, until the excitement builds and his little wag gets faster and faster — and then suddenly he can’t help himself and trots after them, full of hope. Even when he’s eating, he refuses to miss out, wandering around with his tail wagging and dropping kibble everywhere just to stay involved. And if you pet him for more than a second, his whole bum starts wiggling with excitement. He brings so much joy into our lives, and we absolutely love him!

GEETA
  • Geeta is a very timid girl, who arrived out of the plane severely traumatized. She spent the first three days with us in her dog bed, only coming out for walks. Once she got walking, she was a different dog: leash loose most of the time, friendly with dogs of all different sizes and temperaments, but wary of all humans. Over the past five months she has slowly come out of her shell, although she stilll startles at loud noises and sudden movements.

  • Geeta is at her best on walks and in our home with just the three of us. My wife is an invalid, and Geeta spends a lot of time with her, giving love and support. We have had to do some creative management, because she is afraid of the care aides who come to help out, but she quickly settles down once they are established in her “pack”.
To sum her up, Geeta is a sweet and loving dog who responds beautifully to gentle treatment. She is trainable and gentle, and we love her to bits.

ATI
  • Facebook is full of so many great stories for pet lovers, and at some point, we noticed Sonya’s stories. We never wanted a dog…No, thanks, wake up yearly in the morning!
But at some point, something clicked, and we decided to ask Sonya if there was a dog available for adoption. Sonya’s reply was quick, and when we saw Ati in a picture, our first thought was - this is it, this is our dog!

  • The adoption process was very simple, and then Ati's long journey home started -Georgia, Russia, Morocco, then a week in Toronto. So many people with big hearts were involved in transferring Ati from Georgia to Canada! And then Ati finally arrived in Vancouver.
From the first day in our family, it is so much joy to have Ati in our lives. He has an amazing personality. And stlll from time to time has some surprises for us. Has your dog ever tried talk to you? Our Ati recently started talking about how he is missing us when we come back home.

IVAN
  • Ivan joined our family in early November and wasted no time making himself right at home. He’s taken on some very important responsibilities: keeping the yard safe from squirrel invasions, motivating us to stay active, and offering snuggles whenever they’re needed.

His favorite hobbies? Sampling treats, greeting guests, and keeping an eye on the chickens. And when the zoomies hit… well, let’s just say all bets are off!
Ivan loves hanging out by the front door (or perched on a chair nearby) to watch the world go by. Birds, squirrels, and bunnies provide endless entertainment. Once the sun goes down, he switches gears and plays with his stuffed buddies—lots of carrying, tossing, and “attacks” before settling into his cozy spot on the couch for the night.

  • Ivan has made a fantastic first impression on his big sisters—both rescues as well, a 7-year-old golden retriever and a 13-year-old Indian street dog. The three of them are all about walks and treats, and Ivan has fit right in. We couldn’t be happier to have him as part of the family!

TERRA
  • We found Terra through the BC Adoptable Pets group and were immediately drawn to her expressive hound face and serious little stare, which turned out to be wildly misleading. After submitting an application to 100 Tails, Sonya got back to us quickly, even though there was already interest in Terra, and guided us through a thoughtful and thorough vetting process that made it clear how much the rescue cares about placing dogs in safe, loving homes. Because Dalton and I both work full time, we had to wait until we were both off work to make the long drive from Kamloops to Coquitlam, and Sonya and Iryna were incredibly accommodating, pulling a few strings to make our first meeting possible despite their own commitments that day.
  • It was love at first sight for Dalton, and on the drive home Terra decided I was also worth keeping, spending much of the trip curled up contentedly in my lap. She settled into home life quickly and wasted no time revealing her true talents. Terra is extremely food-motivated, surprisingly agile for her size, and not above climbing furniture if she thinks it might lead to snacks. In her early days with us, she committed several memorable crimes involving kibble, coats, shoes, and an unattended drink, all with impressive confidence. She also has a strong preference for stealing blankets, clothes, and pillows and turning them into carefully constructed nests on the couch.

  • Despite her mischievous streak, Terra is affectionate, sensitive, and deeply attached to her people. She loves running in the woods, exploring the beach, and then sleeping for hours afterward, ideally as close to us as possible. Throughout Terra’s first week at home, Sonya and the 100 Tails team checked in regularly to make sure she was settling well and to offer support and advice. The 100 Tails WhatsApp group has also made it easy to stay connected with the rescue community and arrange opportunities for the dogs to meet and play. We’re incredibly grateful to 100 Tails for bringing this clever little criminal into our lives and giving her the chance at a safe, loved, and very supervised future.
